Freshdesk Freddy is the AI layer inside Freshworks' Freshdesk helpdesk: a ticketing platform with an autonomous AI agent, an agent copilot and analytics, priced per seat plus per AI session, and configured by your own team. BotSupport is a fully managed AI chat assistant for ecommerce, built for you on your live catalogue. We aim to hand over a working assistant within one working day of receiving your store details, and we will tell you upfront if your setup needs longer.

What is Freshdesk Freddy AI, and what is it not?

Freshdesk Freddy AI is the artificial intelligence layer inside Freshdesk, the customer service helpdesk made by Freshworks. It is not a standalone chat widget or a quiz tool. As documented in August 2026 it has three parts: Freddy AI Agent, an autonomous assistant that answers customers across email, web chat, WhatsApp and social; Freddy AI Copilot, a per seat assistant that drafts replies and suggests next steps for human agents; and Freddy AI Insights, which reports on service performance.

The first thing to understand is that Freddy is a feature of a helpdesk rather than a product you buy on its own. Freshdesk itself is a mature, broad ticketing platform: shared inboxes, SLAs, automations, a self-service portal, a marketplace of integrations, and priced agent seats. Freddy sits inside that. In the packaging we saw on Freshworks' public pricing pages in August 2026, Freddy is bought as an addition to a Freshdesk or Freshdesk Omni seat plan rather than as a standalone product, which means that if you do not want a ticketing system you are buying a considerable amount of platform in order to reach the AI. Packaging and bundling change, and Freddy is sold across several Freshworks products, so check the current plan pages before you budget.

Freddy AI Agent learns from four kinds of knowledge source, according to Freshworks' own documentation: URLs it crawls, uploaded files, published solution articles from your Freshdesk knowledge base, and custom question and answer pairs. When we checked that documentation in August 2026, it set limits of roughly ten URLs per AI agent and twenty five per account, up to 3,000 pages per site, and 200 files at a maximum of 35 MB each in PDF, DOCX or TXT format. Crawled pages had to be publicly accessible, with gated or password protected content excluded. Treat those as the figures on the day we looked rather than as permanent constraints, because Freshworks revises this documentation without announcing it. The current knowledge source article, linked in our sources section, is the live figure.

Freshworks also ships what it calls Vertical AI Agents. Its Freddy AI Agent page described more than 50 agentic workflows when we checked in August 2026, with named integrations including Shopify, Stripe, PayPal and FedEx, covering actions such as tracking orders, processing exchanges and checking inventory. Its retail and ecommerce page repeated the figure of 50 or more prebuilt workflows for order tracking, cancellations and delivery updates. That is a real capability and it deserves to be taken seriously. Freddy is not a documentation parrot, and where the integrations are configured it can take actions against connected systems rather than only describing them.

Freshworks publishes a number of self-reported figures alongside those capabilities, and they are worth reading as marketing rather than as measurement. Its Freshdesk site claimed more than 74,000 organisations when we checked in August 2026, and cited resolution rates of up to 80 per cent. Its retail and ecommerce page cited 53 per cent of queries deflected by AI agents and 99 per cent CSAT in retail and ecommerce. None of these are independently audited benchmarks. Vendor-published resolution rates reflect best-case deployments, so the sensible way to read them is as a ceiling rather than a forecast: your own result will depend on how complete your knowledge base is and on the mix of questions your customers actually ask. Separately, reviews on G2 that we read in August 2026 frequently highlight Freshdesk's quick setup, with recurring comments about cost as seat counts rise and about the depth of reporting.

What is BotSupport, and how is it different?

BotSupport is a fully managed AI chat assistant for ecommerce. We will build it on your store's real products, prices and policies, test it against the questions your customers actually ask, and show you the result before it goes live on your site. There is no self-serve or DIY tier. It works on WooCommerce, Shopify and most standard website platforms, and it is grounded in your live catalogue rather than in a static copy of it.

BotSupport is at Early Access stage as of August 2026, with early-access pricing of roughly GBP 79 per month and a free trial period. That stage matters and we will not pretend otherwise. BotSupport is a young product without the installed base, certifications, integration marketplace or support organisation that Freshworks has built over more than a decade, and we have no long list of live deployments to point at. If a long vendor track record is part of your buying criteria, that is a genuine point against us and you should weigh it properly rather than discount it.

What BotSupport deliberately is not: it is not a ticketing system. There are no agent seats, no SLA reporting, no shared inbox, no phone channel and no CRM. If your problem is that your support queue is disorganised across five channels and three people, BotSupport does not solve that and Freshdesk does. We would rather say that plainly on a comparison page than have you discover it a fortnight after signing up.

What BotSupport is for is the storefront conversation. Shoppers asking whether a product is in stock, what the difference is between two variants, what your returns window is, where their order has got to, whether something will arrive before the weekend. Those questions get answered against the live catalogue and your actual published policies, and when the assistant cannot answer confidently it hands over to you rather than guessing. Pre-sales questions are the ones that cost you money when they go unanswered, because the shopper simply leaves.

Because the build is done for you, the things that usually stall an AI support project become a job we work through with you rather than a project you have to run yourself. A thin help centre, policy pages that contradict each other, sizing information that only exists inside product descriptions: all of that has to be sorted out before any assistant gives good answers, whichever product you buy. The difference is whose desk it lands on.

Who actually does the building and the upkeep?

This is the real difference between the two products. With Freshdesk Freddy, your team does the work: connecting knowledge sources, writing custom question and answer pairs, building and testing agentic workflows, and monitoring quality afterwards. Freshworks provides a no-code builder for this. With BotSupport, we do the building, the testing and the ongoing upkeep, and you receive a working assistant instead of a configuration project.

No-code is not the same as no-work. Freshworks states on its Freddy AI Agent page that you can launch AI agents in minutes using its AI Agent Studio, and for a very simple agent that is entirely plausible. But the quality of the result is bounded by the quality of what you feed it. If your Freshdesk knowledge base is thin, or your policy pages are out of date, or your product pages are the only place your sizing information lives, then someone in your organisation has to fix all of that first. That is the hidden project, and in our experience of looking at stores it is usually measured in weeks of somebody's divided attention rather than in minutes.

Maintenance is the part that is easiest to underestimate, because it never appears in a pricing table. Autonomous agents drift. You launch a new range, you change your returns window, a courier changes its tracking format, and the answers quietly go stale without anything visibly breaking. On a DIY model, reviewing and refreshing those answers becomes a standing item on someone's job. If it takes even a day or two of a support manager's time each month, and your own estimate will differ from ours, that is a real cost carried by your business rather than by your supplier.

BotSupport's position is straightforward. Ongoing catalogue, policy and answer updates are included in the monthly fee, and that is what you are paying for rather than a software licence. It is a delivery model difference rather than a claim that our underlying models are cleverer than anybody else's, and we would not make the second claim. It is also worth repeating the Early Access caveat here, because this is the commitment we are asking you to trust and we are a new supplier making it.

If you have an operations person who genuinely enjoys this kind of configuration and wants to own it in house, Freddy gives them far more to work with than we do. A no-code studio, a marketplace, an API and a workflow builder are real assets in the hands of someone who wants them. The question is not which model is better in the abstract. It is whether the person who would own this at your company has the time, and whether you want that time spent here.

Can either assistant answer questions about live products, prices and stock?

Both can, by different routes. Freddy AI Agent answers from documentation-shaped knowledge such as crawled URLs, uploaded files and knowledge base articles, and reaches live order or inventory data through configured actions and integrations, which Freshworks names as including Shopify, Stripe, PayPal and FedEx. BotSupport is grounded in the store's live catalogue from the outset, so product, variant, price and availability questions are the default case rather than an integration project.

It is easy to be unfair here, so it is worth being precise. Freddy is genuinely capable of taking real actions against real systems, including refunds and order updates, and describing it as a help-centre chatbot would misrepresent it. Those capabilities do arrive through integration configuration rather than out of the box, and Freshworks meters connector app tasks separately. Its public Freshdesk pricing page listed connector app tasks at 80 US dollars per 5,000 tasks when we checked it in August 2026, billed annually and excluding tax. That is a cost that only shows up once the integrations are doing real work.

Crawled pages are a snapshot rather than a live feed, so how fresh they stay depends on recrawl frequency. Live product and stock data reaches Freddy through configured integrations rather than through the crawler, which is a different mechanism with different setup work attached. If catalogue accuracy matters to you, and for most stores it should, ask Freshworks directly how often knowledge sources are recrawled and which product and inventory fields the integration exposes to the agent. Those two answers will tell you more about day-to-day accuracy than any feature list.

Where the two products differ most in practice is the pre-sales conversation. A shopper asking which of two jackets is warmer, or whether a size 10 is back in stock, or whether the blue one runs small, is asking a catalogue question rather than a ticket question. Helpdesk products are built around the post-purchase queue, and their AI inherits that centre of gravity. BotSupport starts from the catalogue, which is a narrower product but a closer fit to the storefront.

Neither approach removes the need for honesty about limits. Any assistant grounded in a catalogue will be wrong if the catalogue is wrong, and stale stock levels or an unpublished price change will produce a confidently wrong answer in either product. Both can and should escalate to a human when confidence is low, and the quality of that handover matters more than most feature comparisons admit.

Does Freddy AI work with WooCommerce as well as Shopify?

Not on the same footing, based on what we could find in August 2026. Freshworks publishes and documents its own first-party Shopify app for Freshdesk, which lets agents view order, payment and shipping status and take actions such as refunds and cancellations from inside a ticket, on its paid plans. The WooCommerce route we found was a marketplace app, WooCommerce 360, published by an independent developer rather than by Freshworks and listed as a paid app with a trial period.

If you are on Shopify, Freshdesk's ecommerce story is first-party and documented in Freshworks' own support knowledge base, and it includes order actions rather than only order visibility. Plan packaging changes regularly, so check current plan availability before assuming the app is included at the tier you are pricing. As documented by Freshworks in August 2026, the app was available on its paid plans rather than on any free arrangement.

For WooCommerce, the route we found in August 2026 was the WooCommerce 360 app on the Freshworks marketplace, which displays orders and customer details and supports notes, coupons and refunds. It is published by an independent developer rather than by Freshworks, and listed as paid with a 21 day trial. Anything not built by the platform vendor is worth assessing on its own merits, so look at the app's current support terms, its update history and its documentation before you rely on it. There may also be other marketplace apps, partner connectors or an API build that suit you better, and we have not tested every option.

At the time of writing in August 2026, Freshworks' retail and ecommerce page led on workflow counts rather than naming specific ecommerce platforms, which made it harder than we expected to establish first-party platform coverage from the marketing pages alone. Check the current page, because that emphasis can change with any release. It also matters for anything outside the two big platforms: bespoke stores, Magento, BigCommerce and headless setups are integration work in both products, but in the Freshdesk case you at least have a marketplace and a documented API to build against.

BotSupport works on WooCommerce, Shopify and most standard website platforms, and because the build is done for you, the integration work sits with us rather than with your developer. That is not a claim of technical superiority, it is a consequence of the managed model. The honest caveat is that we are pre-launch and have not met every stack yet. If your setup is unusual, tell us before you sign up and we will confirm whether we can support it and how long the build will realistically take.

How do the pricing models compare, including the staff time buyers forget?

Freshdesk Freddy is priced per agent seat plus per AI session. On Freshworks' public pricing pages, checked August 2026, billed annually and excluding tax, Freshdesk was listed at 19, 55 and 89 US dollars per agent per month for Growth, Pro and Enterprise; Freshdesk Omni at 29, 79 and 119; Freddy AI Copilot at 29 US dollars per agent per month; and Freddy AI Agent sessions at 49 US dollars per 100 sessions after a one-time allowance of 500 included sessions. BotSupport is a single flat monthly fee, roughly GBP 79 at Early Access pricing, which includes the build and the ongoing upkeep.

A session in the Freshworks model is not a message and not a resolution. Freshworks defines a session as the interactions between one end user and an AI agent within a fixed window, and its documentation gave 24 hours for chat agents and 72 hours for email agents when we checked in August 2026. On that definition you pay for the session whether or not the customer's problem was solved, which is a meaningfully different risk profile from per-resolution pricing. Billing mechanics get revised, so confirm the current definition with Freshworks before you model costs on it.

Working those listed rates through for a five-person support team on Freshdesk Pro with Copilot gives five multiplied by 55 plus 29 US dollars, or 420 US dollars a month billed annually, before a single AI session is consumed. A store handling 1,000 chat sessions a month would, at the listed rate of 49 US dollars per 100 sessions, add around 490 US dollars a month once the one-time 500 session allowance is exhausted. That arithmetic is ours, applied to Freshworks' published list prices as checked in August 2026. Your actual bill will depend on your plan, your seat count, your volume, your region, your tax position and whatever your account manager agrees, and none of those are things we can see.

The cost nobody budgets for is internal time. Someone has to write the knowledge base, build the workflows, test the answers and review them after launch. Put your own number on that rather than ours: estimate the hours honestly, multiply by what those hours cost you, and add it to the invoice total for each option. It will not change the decision for everyone, but it is the single largest hidden variable between a DIY model and a managed one, and leaving it out of the comparison flatters the DIY option every time.

In fairness to Freshworks, per-seat pricing scales in a way flat pricing does not, and a large team already paying for Freshdesk seats is adding AI at the margin rather than buying a new tool. We should also be plain that BotSupport's Early Access pricing is early-stage pricing, set by a pre-launch company, and it may change as the product matures. We will not pretend a GBP 79 headline is a permanent commercial commitment when the product is this young.

Prices in this article were last verified against Freshworks' public pricing pages in August 2026 and are list prices, billed annually, excluding tax. Vendor pricing moves. Please check the linked pages in our sources section before making a decision on the numbers here.

How quickly can each one be live, realistically?

We aim to hand over a working BotSupport assistant within one working day of receiving your store details, and we will tell you upfront if your setup needs longer. Freshdesk Freddy can be configured quickly by an experienced administrator, and Freshworks states that agents can be launched in minutes using its AI Agent Studio, but a production-quality deployment usually takes longer because it depends on the state of your knowledge base and on the integration and workflow configuration you build around it.

Reviews we read on G2 in August 2026 frequently identify fast setup as one of Freshdesk's genuine strengths relative to heavier enterprise helpdesks, and that matches what we would expect of the ticketing product. Standing up inboxes, agents and basic automations is straightforward. The AI layer is where the timeline stretches, because knowledge quality, action configuration and testing are the actual work, and none of them are made faster by the builder being no-code.

Before you commit, ask Freshworks what testing tools you get. Reviews we read in 2026 reported difficulty dry-running a Freddy agent against historical tickets, so it is worth establishing directly how you can validate answer quality before go-live, whether that is a sandbox, a test mode, a staged rollout or a limited audience. Freshworks may well have an answer, and this is the kind of thing that changes release to release. It matters because discovering quality problems in front of customers is expensive in a way that discovering them in testing is not.

BotSupport's time to live is a consequence of the delivery model rather than of faster software. Somebody does the work in advance, on your catalogue, and shows you the result before it goes on your site. We will also be honest about the flip side: because a person does the build, our timeline depends on our capacity and on how quickly you can get us access to your store and your policies. If we cannot hit one working day for your setup, you will hear that from us before you pay, not after.

Who should honestly choose Freshdesk Freddy instead?

Choose Freshdesk Freddy if you need a real helpdesk rather than a chat assistant: multiple agent seats, a shared ticket queue across email, phone, WhatsApp and social, SLA management, a self-service portal and reporting. It is also the better choice if you are on Shopify and want first-party order actions inside tickets, if you already run other Freshworks products, or if you want to own the configuration in house.

Some specific cases where Freshdesk is clearly the right answer and BotSupport is not. You have a support team of five or more people who need to share a queue and avoid collision on tickets. You need agent-assist as well as customer-facing automation, which is what Freddy AI Copilot provides and BotSupport does not. You operate in many languages, and Freshworks stated that Freddy supports more than 60 on its marketing pages when we checked in August 2026. You have compliance or procurement requirements that a pre-launch UK supplier will not satisfy, which is a perfectly reasonable position for a larger buyer to take. Or you are not an ecommerce business at all, in which case BotSupport is simply the wrong shape of product.

There is also a straightforward commercial case for Freddy. At scale, and with an internal owner who is happy to maintain it, a self-configured system inside a platform you already pay for can cost less per conversation than a managed service, and it does not create a dependency on a single small supplier. Concentration risk is real and it cuts against us: if BotSupport were to disappear, you would have lost a supplier rather than merely a subscription. That is a legitimate reason to choose an established vendor and we would not argue with anyone who weighed it that way.

Finally, if your main problem is disorganisation rather than volume, a helpdesk fixes that and an AI assistant does not. Automating answers on top of a chaotic queue tends to produce faster chaos. Get the queue in order first, then decide what to automate on top of it. That advice costs us sales occasionally, and it is still the right advice.

How do you trial both, or move from one to the other?

Trial them against the same evidence. Take 50 real customer questions from the last month, split them into policy questions and catalogue questions, and run both assistants against the same list. Score correct answers, wrong answers, sensible escalations, and, separately, the hours of your own team's time each option consumed to reach that point. Freshworks offers a free trial of Freshdesk, and BotSupport offers a free trial period during Early Access.

Count the setup hours honestly, because that is the variable the two products differ most on and the one that never appears in a pricing table. If a Freddy configuration takes an afternoon and performs well on your 50 questions, it is a strong option and you should take it. If it consumes three weeks of a manager's attention before the answers are trustworthy, that is a real cost, and the useful part is that you will have measured it rather than guessed at it.

The two products are not mutually exclusive. If you already own Freshdesk seats and are happy with them, this is the setup we would recommend: BotSupport on the storefront handling the pre-sales and order-status conversation, with anything it escalates landing in your existing Freshdesk queue as a ticket for a human. That lets you test managed, catalogue-grounded chat without unpicking a helpdesk that is working for you, and it keeps the ticketing, SLA and reporting machinery you have already paid for.

If you are moving away from Freshdesk entirely, the content you built is portable in the sense that matters: your knowledge base articles, policy pages and canned responses are the raw material either system uses. What does not port is your workflow configuration, which is specific to the platform, so budget for rebuilding that rather than migrating it. Export your solution articles before you cancel anything.

One note on free access, because the terms here are unusually hard to pin down. Freshdesk no longer advertises an open-ended free plan on its public pricing page as of August 2026. Reports in 2026 describe a limited free programme, on the order of two agents for six months, with feature restrictions that we understand to include marketplace app integrations, but it is not published on the pricing page and we could not verify the current terms directly. If free access matters to your plan, confirm the details with Freshworks rather than relying on this article or on any other secondary write-up.

Sources, and when we checked them

Every competitor claim on this page comes from one of the sources below. Vendor pricing, documentation limits and marketing figures all change without notice, so each one is dated to the day we checked it. Where we could not verify something directly, we have said so in the text rather than smoothing it over. Sources last checked: August 2026.

We verified the Freshdesk and Freshdesk Omni list prices and the Freddy AI Agent knowledge source limits directly against Freshworks' own pages in August 2026. The remaining figures, including the 74,000 organisations claim, the 60-plus languages claim, the 50-plus workflows claim and the 53 per cent deflection and 99 per cent CSAT figures, are Freshworks' own published marketing numbers, attributed as such and not independently audited. Please read them accordingly.

If you spot something on this page that has gone out of date, or that misrepresents Freshworks or any third-party developer, tell us at info@botsupport.ai and we will correct it. Getting a competitor's commercial terms wrong in our own favour would be the worst possible failure on a page like this, and we would rather be told than left publishing it.

Which should you choose?

Choose BotSupport if

Choose BotSupport if you run a WooCommerce, Shopify or standard-platform store, you want an AI assistant grounded in your live catalogue rather than in a static copy of your help pages, and you do not have anyone with the time or appetite to configure and maintain one. We will build it, test it against your real questions and show you the result before it goes live. We aim to hand over within one working day of receiving your store details, and we will tell you upfront if your setup needs longer. The fee is flat, roughly GBP 79 a month at Early Access pricing, with ongoing catalogue and policy updates included. The trade-off is that BotSupport is a young product at Early Access stage with no ticketing system, no agent seats and no track record to point at, and you should factor that in honestly.

Choose Freshdesk Freddy if

Choose Freshdesk Freddy if what you actually need is a helpdesk: several agents sharing a ticket queue across email, phone, WhatsApp and social, SLA management, a self-service portal and proper reporting, with AI added on top of it. It is also the stronger choice if you are on Shopify and want first-party order actions inside tickets, if you need agent-assist as well as customer-facing automation, if you operate in many languages, if you already run other Freshworks products, or if you have procurement or compliance requirements that a pre-launch supplier is unlikely to meet. At larger team sizes, with someone in house who wants to own the configuration, it can also work out cheaper per conversation, and buying from an established vendor avoids the concentration risk of depending on a small new supplier.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Common questions about Freshdesk Freddy and BotSupport. Still deciding? Get a free analysis of your own store.

Is Freddy AI included in Freshdesk or does it cost extra?

Both, partly. On Freshworks' public pricing pages, checked August 2026, paid Freshdesk plans included a one-time allowance of 500 Freddy AI Agent sessions, after which additional sessions were listed at 49 US dollars per 100. Freddy AI Copilot was a separate add-on listed at 29 US dollars per agent per month billed annually, on top of your Freshdesk seat price. These are list prices excluding tax and vendor pricing changes, so check the current pricing page before budgeting.

What counts as a Freddy AI session?

Freshworks defines a session as the interactions between one end user and an AI agent within a fixed window. Its documentation gave 24 hours for chat agents and 72 hours for email agents when we checked in August 2026. On that definition it is not per message and not per resolution, so a session is consumed whether or not the customer's issue was solved. Confirm the current definition with Freshworks before modelling costs on it.

Does Freshdesk still have a free plan?

Not in an open-ended form that we could find. Freshdesk no longer advertises an open-ended free plan on its public pricing page as of August 2026. Reports in 2026 describe a limited free programme, on the order of two agents for six months, with feature restrictions that we understand to include marketplace app integrations, but the terms are not published and we could not verify them directly. Confirm current terms with Freshworks. The lowest listed paid plan when we checked was Freshdesk Growth at 19 US dollars per agent per month billed annually.

Can Freddy AI Agent read my product catalogue?

Indirectly, based on Freshworks' documentation as we read it in August 2026. Freddy learns from crawled public URLs, uploaded PDF, DOCX and TXT files, published knowledge base articles and custom question and answer pairs, with documented limits of around ten URLs per agent and twenty five per account. Live order and inventory data reaches it through configured actions and integrations, which Freshworks names as including Shopify, Stripe, PayPal and FedEx. Crawled pages are a snapshot, so ask about recrawl frequency if catalogue accuracy matters to you. BotSupport is grounded in the live catalogue by default.

Does Freshdesk work with WooCommerce?

The route we found in August 2026 was a marketplace app rather than a first-party one. WooCommerce 360 on the Freshworks marketplace displays orders and customer details and supports notes, coupons and refunds, and is published by an independent developer rather than by Freshworks, listed as a paid app with a 21 day trial. There may be other marketplace apps, partner connectors or API builds that suit you better. Freshworks' own Shopify app is first-party and documented in its support knowledge base.

How long does it take to get a Freddy AI Agent live?

Freshworks states that agents can be launched in minutes using its AI Agent Studio, and basic configuration is genuinely quick. Production quality usually takes longer, because it depends on how complete your knowledge base is and how much integration and workflow configuration you build. Before you commit, ask Freshworks what testing tools you get: reviews we read in 2026 reported difficulty dry-running a Freddy agent against historical tickets, so it is worth establishing how you can validate answer quality before go-live.

Is BotSupport a Freshdesk replacement or something you run alongside it?

Either, depending on your situation. BotSupport does not include ticketing, agent seats or SLA reporting, so it does not replace Freshdesk for a team that needs those. If you already own Freshdesk, this is the setup we would recommend: BotSupport on the storefront for pre-sales and order-status questions, with anything it escalates landing in your existing queue.

Which is cheaper, BotSupport or Freshdesk Freddy?

It depends on team size and conversation volume, and the honest answer is that the models are not directly comparable. BotSupport is a flat monthly fee of roughly GBP 79 at Early Access pricing with the build and upkeep included. Freshdesk Freddy adds per-seat and per-session costs on top of a helpdesk you also get, and at large team sizes with an internal owner, a self-configured Freddy setup inside a helpdesk you already pay for can work out cheaper per conversation than a managed service. Model both against your own seat count and conversation volume, and include the internal hours each option would consume.
